 Worst DVD doesn't just mean the worst show to be released on DVD: it also covers halfway decent shows that have been given shoddy releases on DVD. Working Dog are the masters of this sort of thing, so someone will have to come up with a real shocker to knock them off their perch...
Working Dog's attitude to extras wouldn't be so annoying if there was a sense there was anything more behind it than "can't be arsed". If they'd never released a DVD with any extras on it at all, fair enough: they're clearly committed to letting the work stand by itself. But that's not the case: box office dud The Dish comes with a raft of extras including two commentary tracks from Working Dog, while the series one collection of Thank God You're Here came with a passably entertaining making-of special and an enjoyably silly packaging-related home game. So clearly they're willing to put in the effort when they feel like it, and their refusal to include any extras at all with most of their releases - most recently, Funky Squad and The Hollowmen - is made even more annoying in contrast. Sadly, watching all six episodes back-to-back didn't improve Bogan Pride. Maybe watching them in reverse order might be a better way to go. Or one on top of each other. There were so many fat jokes on offer you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a spin-off from Good News Week, and while Aussie comedy is so bereft you almost always score points just for trying, Wilson was mostly just trying the viewer's patience. The Summer Heights High: Special Edition operates at the other end of the scale from Working Dog: first they released an extras-packed edition, now here comes a version with even more extras. But no matter which way you slice it, they're still extras from Summer Heights High.
