Most Over-rated or Over-exposed Comedy or Comedian

EDDIE: There aren't that many opportunities in the Australian comedy industry, which may explains why the same figures tend to crop up time and time again - on TV, on radio, on stage, online and at these awards. Yes, lack of opportunities is a reasonable explanation for a small number of people getting all the work. But as an excuse for continuously giving shit people work, it just doesn't cut it.

Josh Thomas seems to be so ubiquitous that I'll be surprised if he isn't standing behind me right now...

TURNS. THOMAS ISN'T THERE.

...Oh, what a nice surprise. Anyway, in addition to turning up on lots of things, he also seems to be quite good at being awful on lots of things. When he demonstrates his gross ignorance of the world on Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation he wastes time Shaun Micallef could be filling with gags. When he makes a guest appearance somewhere, he shrieks and whinges and talks about himself too much. Even in his own podcast he's a tedious waste of space, and that's something he created for himself, so you might expect him to shine. Despite that, we think Josh Thomas should continue to appear in the Australian media on a regular basis. As he ages, his schtick, which seems almost entirely to be based around his youthful ignorance, will become more difficult to pull off. And he'll either have to come up with something better, or fuck off back to Brisbane.

When does Dave Hughes find time to sleep? He's on Nova Melbourne Breakfast, The 7PM Project and Twitter, as well as doing stand-up...at least there's a fairly good possibility that he'll soon become so over-worked that he'll be forced to take time off. We recommend you use that time off to see other parts of the world, Dave. Such as Iceland. It's a complete contrast to Australia, and as a nice bonus for us, it's a very, very long way away.

Recently Wil Anderson became another Australian comedian to try his luck in the US. It's a great opportunity for him - and the least the Americans deserve after giving us all those episodes of Two and A Half Men.
